After being hooked on bikes for the last 15 or more years, I've made a couple of attempts to have a proper season of racing. Either work, Uni or something else has gotten in the way.
Now I'm in a perfect position to make a go of things before I get too old! My day job involves getting out on the bike, in all weathers, delivering a massive variety of items for Cardiff Cycle Couriers and their parent company, Priority Express. Couriering on a bike is such a great way to get miles in, test handling skills and to actually earning a living from it is something I see as just a bonus. I've met some fantastic, inspiring people along the way and my passion for the job grows with every shift.
Weekends are more often than not left to racing. I compete in XC Mountain Biking and Cyclocross. These races can last less than an hour or up to 24 but share a requirement for sharp handling, a bit of brawn and a love of getting mucky. I've got my eye on a couple of road races for 2012 but intend to keep my tires mostly in the mud.
My long term goal in cycling is a little open ended but I'm just aiming to see how far I can push myself. I love riding hard and fast and my body seems to deal well with said activities! So with the right support I'm hoping I can go far.
